Introduction to Clare’s EMDR Resources
I briefly explain the purpose of EMDR resourcing exercises and offer you a few options to consider for bilateral stimulation during the exercises.
Container Exercise
You are invited to create a mental "container" to hold overwhelming emotions, somatic activtion, or distressing memories. The goal of this exercise is to help you regulate and re-ground when you’ve become triggered by something.
Creating an Ally
You are invited to identify and develop a supportive figure, who might serve as an ally when you want to cultivate a sense of self-compassion and safety.
Calm, Safe Place
You are invited to create a vivid mental image of a serene and secure location where you can retreat during distressing moments.
